Our World is a project where PiousSlut will document your experiences about the cities where you live. This project is brainchild of many bright minds. We are starting it with Chicago from where Kendra Thornton is sharing her experience about Chicago and the charms associated with it.
Small Town Charm, Big City Fun
While I’ve been lucky enough to do my fair share of traveling, I’ve also had the opportunity to live in one of the best tourist destinations America has to offer. Full of world-class museums, incredible food, and enough shopping and entertainment options to last a lifetime, Chicago radiates a mix of small town charm and big city life like no other place I’ve been. Whether you’re planning a weekend visit or an extended vacation, the following are just a few of the city’s must-see destinations:
Chicago’s Front Yard
One of the most famous parks in America, Grant Park is unquestionably one of the best attractions in the city. Home to the city’s famous Millennium Park, the Museum Campus, and acres of beautifully sculpted lakeside scenery, the park is a great place to relax or play. In fact, the park features many of the city’s major cultural events, including championship celebrations for local sports teams like the Bulls and Blackhawks. In July of each year, the park is also home to one of the world’s largest food festivals – the Taste of Chicago. Meanwhile, for a chance to enjoy year-round awesomeness, visitors should check out the gorgeous Buckingham Fountain or the massive collection at the Art Institute of Chicago.
Feed the Family
If you like to eat, Chicago is the place to be. Steak, hot dogs, and pizza are just three of the city’s culinary claims to fame. Of course, if you’re looking for a Chicago experience for the whole family, there are plenty of options there too. Located in the Loop, South Water Kitchen is open at 6 a.m. and serves great, affordable food all day long. Better still, the place has a huge menu for even the pickiest eaters in your party.
Location, Location, Location
Unlike some big cities, Chicago’s size and distinctive neighborhoods make it especially important to choose the right hotel. Knowing whether you’re more interested in checking out the imposing skyline of downtown or the welcoming shops and bars on the North Side is the obvious first step. Luckily, the city is full of a combination of luxury and budget-friendly option. No matter what your particular needs, gogobot.com can be a great resource in your search.
Shopping Till You Drop
As a truly global city, Chicago offers plenty of shopping options for even certified shopaholics. In addition to the major department stores lining the Magnificent Mile on North Michigan Avenue, numerous chic alternatives can be found throughout the city. Located near historic Wrigley Field on the North Side, Southport Avenue has a number of great boutiques for you to explore your inner fashionista. While there are dozens of great places to look, the casual cool of Krista and Tula are certain to impress. Meanwhile, for some of Chicago’s own designers, consider Cerato Boutique.
Whether you’re looking for a place to get away or a trip to remember, the only problem you’re likely to have with this city is leaving it. After all, there’s a reason we call it Sweet Home Chicago.
From past many months, it has been regular practice of Police and Assistant Commissioner of Islamabad to raid the Shisha Cafes operating in the city. Several Shisha Cafes were raided. Smokers were apprehended and the Smoking Apparatus was confiscated along with Tobacco. Indeed, smoking is injurious to health and there is no doubt about it. The matter of concern for me and many like me is that why Shisha is considered as taboo and adult smokers are molested by the Police?
Section 5 of the Smoking Ordinance 2002 (LXXIV of 2002) states, “No person shall smoke or use tobacco in any other form in any place of public work and use. The Federal Government may, however, issue guidelines for permitting designated smoking areas in premises or places where adequate arrangements are made to protect the health of non-smokers.”
Similarly a notification (S.R.O. 653 (I)/2003) was issued by Ministry of Health on 30th June, 2003 stating, “In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 of the prohibition of smoking and Protection of Non-Smokers Health Ordinance, 2002 (LXXIV of 2002), the Federal Government is pleased to declare, hospitals, dispensaries and other health care establishments, educational institutions, offices, conference rooms, all domestic flights, restaurants, buses, wagons, trains, indoor stadiums, gymnasiums, clubs, lounges of airports, waiting rooms at railway stations, waiting rooms at bus stations and addas, to be places of public work or use to be no smoking and no tobacco places.”
Another notification (S.R.O. 654 (I)/2003) enabled designated persons as envisaged in Section 2 (b) of the aforementioned Ordinance. A statutory regulation order (S.R.O. 277(I)/2007) was issued by Ministry of Health that amended the S.R.O. 654 (I)/2003. Originally it was envisaged in the S.R.O. 654 (I)/2003 in clause (d) that all Police Officers of rank Sub-Inspector and above are authorized to exercise the authority to prevent the smoking in the areas designated as Smoke Free by Smoking Ordinance 2002. The aforementioned notification replaced Sub-Inspector with Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI). Now whereas it is responsibility of the Police to ensure the rule of law in the country, this particular amendment actually opened the door of the Police harassments and enabled all ASIs and above officers to extract hefty bribes from the innocent public.
It has been seen that the Authorities and Commissioner of Islamabad in particular have totally ignored or dismissed the later part of the Section (5) of the Smoking Ordinance 2002 that enables Federal Government to allow smoking on the designated spots. Further it has been seen that the Commissioner of Islamabad is actually cracking down on Shisha and not on other modes of smoking such as cigarettes etc. It is a common site to site people smoking openly in the Public Places and mocking the law to the fullest. Police on its part is equal culprit as many designated Authorized ASIs are seen smoking in Police Mobiles, Pickets of the Capital and in Police Stations.
I think the jurisdiction of Commissioner of Islamabad is either limited to Shisha Cafes or he is not aware of the originally enacted Law. The comparison of the Smoking Ordinance with similar Law enacted in India revealed certain shortcomings in it. For example Section 5 of the Smoking Ordinance 2002 clearly states that there will be designated smoking areas in premises or places where adequate arrangements are made to protect the health of non-smokers.
There is a similar law in India called the Smoking Act 2002. The law is loosely similar to the Pakistani Law except that there are some additional provisions. For example Section (4) of Smoking Act of India 2002 (34 of 2003) states, “No person shall smoke in any public place: Provided that in a hotel having thirty rooms or a restaurant having seating capacity of thirty persons or more and in airports, a separate provision for smoking area or space maybe made.”
The Indian Law made it clear that smoking of any type such as cigarette, Shisha, Beedi etc. is allowed to be smoked in the designated smoking area. The point is that, in Pakistan, a Shisha Café is a designated place (as envisaged in Smoking Act 2002) exclusively for smoking then by what jurisdiction Commissioner of Islamabad and Police is confiscating Shisha Apparatus and rounding up the people smoking Shisha Pipe? Section 8 of the Smoking Ordinance 2002 stats, “No person shall sell cigarettes or any other smoking substance to a person who is below the age of 18 years.” Conversely a person who is above the age of 18 years is free to choose between smoking Cigarette or Shisha as an adult as he is choose to cast his ballot and choose between PTI, PML(N) or PPP depending upon the personal choice.
It has been seen that the Police and Commissioner of Islamabad is violating the above section by violating the fundamental rights of the people. There is a smoking law in UK as well that has been enacted by the Westminster. The Law in UK is very clear and has designated Smoking Premises. The Smoke Free (Exemptions and Vehicles) Regulations 2007 Section 5 (3) states, “In this regulation “designated room” means a bedroom or a room used only for smoking which –
(a) Has been designated in writing by the person having charge of the premises in which the room is situated as being a room in which smoking is permitted.
(b) Has a ceiling and, except for doors and windows, is completely enclosed on all sides by solid, floor-to-ceiling walls;
(c) Does not have a ventilation system that ventilates into any other part of the premises (except any other designated rooms);
(d) Is clearly marked as a room in which smoking is permitted; and
(e) Except where the room is in a prison, does not have any door that opens onto smoke-free premises which is not mechanically closed immediately after use.
I think that it is more appropriate for the Police and Commissioner of Islamabad to pay attention on the whole Law and don’t just penalize the Shisha Cafes and subvert the adult’s choice of smoking and not smoking. I also want to bring into the notice that Section 9 of the Smoking Ordinance 2002 that states clearly that the sale of tobacco in any form is also prohibited within the 50 meters of any educational institution. The section used the word “tobacco product” that means it also includes Gutka, Tara, 121, Niswar etc. It is a matter of Shame that all these products are openly sold within 50 m of many educational institutions. Commissioner of Islamabad has turned blind eye to their Sale. It looks like that Respected Commissioner has some personal grudge with Shisha so he is only cracking down on Shisha Cafes indiscriminately whether they are serving Shisha to minors (as envisaged in Section 8 of Smoking Ordinance 2002) or to adults. Further Police rounds up even the adults smoking Shisha in sheer violation of the Spirit of the Ordinance and extract hefty bribes from the people.
The funny thing is that on average 2 vehicles are lifted from the Public Parking Spaces and Residential Quarters of Islamabad daily by Carjackers operating conveniently in the city. Commissioner of Islamabad has not felt appropriate to impound stronghold of these carjackers. Similarly Commissioner and Police of Islamabad looks powerless and incapable to ensuring the Security and Safety of the Citizens of Islamabad as envisaged in Article 9, 23 and 24 of the Constitution. All the Police have to show is that how many Shisha Cafes it has impounded as progress.
Police of Pakistan in general and Islamabad Police in particular is a failure in itself the episode of Sikandar, the lone gunman of the Jinnah Avenue, is evident to judge the professional efficiency of the Police and Commissioner of Islamabad. Well, this is not enough the main reason cited by the Police and People in favor of these raids is Public Health. I want to cite Pakistan Environmental Protection Act 1997 (XXXIV of 1997) here. Section 2 (iii) describes Air Pollutant as, “any substance that causes pollution of air and includes soot, smoke, dust particles, odour, light, electro-magnetic radiation, heat, fumes, combustion, exhaust, exhaust gases, noxious gases, hazardous substance and radioactive substances;”
How many times Commissioner and his task force raided poisonous smoke emitting factories and steel rerolling mills in Islamabad? It is a matter of shame that Commissioner of Islamabad and other competent authorities are totally unaware of this act and no action has ever been taken by Islamabad Police or Commissioner to check on the hazardous smoke emitting from these factories and is the main cause of the Asthma and other allergies in Federal Capital. Similarly bootlegging rings are active in the city and Commissioner is totally oblivious to their existence and open transactions happening in the posh sectors of Islamabad. The only menace that Commissioner can see is Shisha Cafes where adult youth go to enjoy for a bit.
There has been no campaign by any ministry except for some hoardings educating youth about the adverse impact of the prolonged use of Tobacco. Indeed efforts of any authority to check upon the Sale of Tobacco and Tobacco products to minors is laudable but care should be taken that these actions don’t violate any fundamental right of any adult person. Not only Smoking Ordinance 2002 but also other laws and acts should also be enforced. In fact, it should be considered that terror-ridden, militancy-infested and unemployed youth of this country has very limited opportunities of enjoyment. Commissioner of Islamabad should concentrate on his real job not upon point scoring by impounding Shisha Cafes and giving Police a freehand to harass people.
It is our right to choose between smoking and not smoking. It is a fundamental right of free choice. Commissioner of Islamabad should direct his efforts upon ensuring that all provisions of Smoking Ordinance 2002 are enforced and only Shisha Cafes are not discriminated.
Curriculum is like a building block. It is actually the Master Plan for the future development of our new generation. It decides what mindset do we want to induce in your young saplings and what kind of people we want them to be. In Pakistan, sadly, there has never been any serious effort to improve or revise the curriculum in Post Zia Days. Most of the Curriculum taught during the reformist regime of Bhutto was more or less the same as was taught during 1950s.
In the pursuit of legitimacy he heavily censored Pakistani History. It was nothing but a mere Whitewash on the recently inflicted wound of East Pakistan. Well, the curriculum has been a problem in Pakistan along with the Medium of Education. The famous Language Riots of 1952 were due to the removal of Bangla Language as Medium in East Pakistan. West Pakistan autocratic government made One-Unit System largely aimed to curtail the vast Bengali population of then Pakistan. One-Unit system actually wiped off the concept of Mother Language. Language Riots in Dhaka left dozens dead and UN in recognition of the sacrifices of Bengali Pakistanis to protect their Mother Language celebrates February 21, when Dhaka University was raided by Pakistani Security Forces as World Mother Language Day.
However this huge sacrifice of Bengali Pakistanis never made it into our Pakistani Textbooks and Curriculum. During the time of Bhutto this episode was removed from the History altogether. There was no mention of Mother Language Riots and neither does Pakistan ever celebrated International Mother Language Day on February 21st in official capacity. This is pretty understandable considering the failure of Pakistani Deep State and reluctant withdrawal from declaring Urdu as only National Language of Pakistan.
After the breakup of East Pakistan, Bhutto became Civil Martial Law Administrator and assumed the herculean task of developing a Constitution acceptable to whole Pakistan (that was just West Pakistan and East Pakistan became Bangladesh due to 1971 Indo-Pakistan war). However, there was nothing significant on the curriculum.
Bhutto was ousted in the coup of 1979 and then begin the dark era for Pakistan and the seeds of this poisonous crop was sown and we are still harvesting the thorns and thistles sown by Zia ul Haq and his cronies. It was the dark time of Zia ul Haq that the special emphasis of government was on curriculum. Zia ul Haq designated his handpicked team to introduce hotchpotch into the historical accounts of Pakistan and to write history books suiting his interests of Jihadist agenda.
He not only distorted the History but fancy non-existent accounts of Golden Islamic age in India was created. Pakistan’s diverse culture was discarded and Zia tried to divide Pakistani society into pre-1000 AD tribal Arabia. In order to achieve his infamous goals of Talibanization (at that time Mujahideen factories to wage Jihad on Soviet Union with American and Saudi Money), Zia ul Haq especially focused on Islamic Studies and Pakistan Studies. Fictitious accounts of Jinnah’s involvement with theocratic Mullahs, introduction of Muslim League’s Non-existent Jihadist tendencies and hotchpotch in the Constitutional Texts are inventiones of Zia ul Haq. To Islamize Pakistan, Zia ul Haq distorted and reproduced a heavily censored Constitutional Document called Objectives Resolution. The original draft was passed by the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan in 1949.
The original document was more secular in nature and envisaged equal rights for all Pakistanis, however, asserting that the Final Authority of Rule is Allah and Pakistani Constitutional and Democratic Rulers will use this authority as Amanat from Allah (As there is no proper word for Amanat in English). This document was particularly distorted and it’s secular nature was changed into Islamized one.
Zia ul Haq mingled Islamic History’s censored version with International Politics and created monstrous Taliban along with Jamaat-e-Islami for Pakistan. Since Zia’s time Jamaat e Islami and other Islamists strived hard to induct Surah Tauba, Surah Ahzaab and Surah Mumtahina along with another small Surah called Al-Hashar into the syllabus.
It was during the brief stint of Nawaz Sharif in 1997 that the demand of JI and other right wing extremists were accepted and the above mentioned Surahs were included into the Curriculum. Before we land into the details of disadvantages of inclusion of these Surahs in Syllabus, I want to recall how was my experience with them. I as a student was keenly interested in Comparative Religions. I came into contact with Quran directly in 1998 when Nawaz Sharif’s Islamist reforms made Quran compulsory for all the students. When I was in 9th Class, we were taught Surah Tauba or Chapter XIV of Quran that deals with Jihad.
My first reaction was that I along with my other students are wasting our lives. Our teacher made it clear on us that Jihad is an obligation and we must stop supporting the tactics of Kafirs and take up arms and go to Afghanistan or Kashmir for Jihad. Mind you, this was no ordinary School. This was Islamabad Model College for Boys, F-8/4. Commonly known in Islamabad as IMCB F-8/4.
The most shameful aspect of the inclusion of these Surahs of Quran into the curriculum is that they are aimed at misquoting the Holy Texts and use them in Talibanization and Islamization of Pakistan. For example if we assess readily available Militant Propaganda material nearly 90% of it is concentrated to the Surahs that I mentioned above.
The Surah was added in the Syllabus and the emphasis was just on it’s translation. There was no mention of the reason and logic behind the revelation of the Surah — though it is readily available, oft-quoted and easily accessible. The main purpose was to introduce a Jihadist euphoria into Pakistani youth and to prepare youngsters for Jihad to attain strategic depth inside the neighboring countries! It is pathetic to it’s core.
The stark difference between the two snaps that I shared is obvious. One explains the reason and logic while other is just a mere translation and it was this mere translation that was being fed to the students to pollute their minds with dirty Jihadist agenda. Well, then tables turned and Nawaz Sharif was ousted in a coup by then COAS General Parvez Musharraf.
Many good things that can be attributed to Musharraf and foremost of them was the fact that Musharraf realized that these Surahs without their historical context are nothing but a ticking time bomb and providing fodder for the Jihadist and many Jaysh and Lashkars of Pakistan. He not only replaced these Surahs in curriculum with ones that are more of clear message of Islam and didn’t require much of historical context such as Surah Ibrahim and Aal-Imran.
The recently ousted PPP government more or less followed the policy of Musharraf. After 2013 Elections, Pakistan saw First ever peaceful transition of power from one democratically elected government to another. Nawaz Sharif became Prime Minister of Pakistan for third time. However, so far Federal Government has done nothing to review or modify curriculum. Along with PML-N sweeping Federal Ballot and Punjab, we also got Cricketer-turned-playboy Imran Khan whose PTI swept elections in war-torn KPK mostly on anti-American rhetoric and misleading slogan of Change. PTI came to power and shook hands with Jamaat e Islami, a right wing extremist religio-political party. The leaders of PTI KPK Chapter are mostly ex-Jamatiyas (a terms used for ex members of JI).
Briefly after coming to power, CM Parvez Khattak said that he has no fight with Taliban. However, Taliban kept on bombing Pakistani cities and KPK PTI Government became official spokesperson of TTP. Heartbreaking statements such as Taliban are our brothers etc kept on coming from Shaukat Yusufzai and Imran Khan was seen in a Royal Ball arranged to protect Indian Elephants while holding a cup of a clear liquid that was obviously not water.
Recently it has been published in a local Urdu newspaper that Imran Khan has in principle agreed to reintroduce the Jihadist verses in the curriculum that were removed by General Musharraf. It is alarming and very very surprising. The readdition of these verses and Surahs of Quran without Historical context is like a political suicide. A certain Urdu Daily called Mashriq has reported the news that we are pasting right below.
Imran Khan should fear that the Elite and Burger Urban Middle Class that elected him will be first one to kick him out. This is not only sacrilegious but also a clear question mark over the intentions of Imran Khan. Does Imran Khan know what is he doing? Does he care about the drastic negative impacts of the inclusion of the Jihadist material in the syllabus? If this news is credible then Imran Khan should quit politics. Imran Khan is doing nothing but resurrecting the policies of late Zia ul Haq and his cronies in KPK to hide his political failures by playing Islam Card. This Islam Card might hide his political failure, complete breach of Manifesto and mocking of Manifesto by Parvez Khattak and other stalwarts of KPK government by not relinquishing the Party Positions after being entrusted with Ministerial duties.
Even morally I want to ask Imran Khan that has he arranged someone to teach his two Judeo-British sons Surah Tauba and others the same way he wants them to be taught to our Pakistani Youth? This is indeed double standard and outward manifestation of hypocrisy and contempt of common Pakistani Mind. Imran Khan, if he actually agreed, to introduce these Surahs into the curricula, then he should tell the disgruntled voters that what is his real agenda? This is high time to compare the victory of PTI with Islamic Brotherhood of Egypt. Islamic Brotherhood swept the local elections with the empty slogan of Change. However, they didn’t keep their promise and started the sectarianism and radicalization of previously peaceful and quiet communities. This lead to massive protests against the Islamist regimes in Egypt and ouster of Islamic Brotherhood oft-dubbed heroic President Muhammad Morsi and direct involvement of Army with ample support of Egyptian diverse political sky.
Imran Khan should be afraid of this kind of the backlash. Like me there are so many other disgruntled voters of PTI who are now rising against the Talibanization and pro-Militant and Terror-Apologetic agenda of PTI. Many moderate PTI freelancers called Insaaf Tabdeeli Razakaar have spoken on blogs and facebook communities about the not-fulfilled promises of Imran Khan. They have also questioned about the role of KPK CM and Information Minister and their vociferous defense of Taliban and reasoning and logic behind blaming every mishap in KPK on Drones. I am sure like Egypt the moderate PTI voter concentrated in Posh areas of Urban centers (excluding KPK) will rise and Imran Khan will have nothing to hide. However, as a voter and will-wisher, I sincerely advise Imran Khan to reconsider his stance on terrorism and denotify his decision to re-include the Jihadist material into the curriculum of KPK. This is expected from JI as it was it’s manifesto and JI was pretty clear on it. Is Imran Khan aware that the billions of Rupees from Public treasury are bound to be wasted into infusing the Spirit of Jihad and this readdition of Jihadist fodder in curriculum is just a Final Leap of Faith of Imran Khan to accept Talibanization of Pakistan. History will never forgive Imran Khan! PTI FAILED US! Shame!
Pity, innit? This new synonym can not be called as my sole invention. I credit Jahanzeb Haque – a renound cartoonist from young Urban Pakistan – as it’s inventor but I want to take on as a mentor to explain the ideology behind McBurqa. We all have come across this type actually but we don’t get the name that actually suits them. McBurqa guys are very common sight now. I have been observing a McBurqa since last 7 years and I think this is the high time to let the world know about my sheer observations.
McBurqa guys can be distinctly divided into two types. Both types are interdependent on each other some way. We are going to discuss the common Pakistani breed of McBurqa guys (conversely McPurdah girls). First signs that a typical McBurqa would exhibit are of becoming a pet of boys belonging to the Burger Class of…

A Great Post! Fits even in 2013
The war within… This is the exact situation of our country where many other countries are fighting proxy wars with each other. Our security apparatus is so weak that we aren’t even able to deter these elements that are covertly supporting militants and terrorists in Pakistan.
A recent Wiki Leaks report broke that a certain cleric in Faisalabad whose name has been kept secret due to security reasons informed Principal Officer of US Consulate that Sipah-e-Sahaba, a terrorist outfit operating in Urban Punjab, is receiving heavy funding from Saudi Arabia, Libya and another Arab country that I assume is probably Kuwait or Bahrain to cull infidel Shia community in Pakistan. Conversely, Shia terror outfits are receiving hefty payments from predominately Iran to equate Sunni militants.
I have elaborated earlier that these elements are fighting their own wars on Pakistani soil and are getting material support such as sophisticated weaponry through…

Yes, the bubble has busted. The dream that we saw and the empty promises that were being made with us are now lying naked on the blood-soaked roads of Khyber-Pakhtunkhuwa. Yes, Taliban achieved their might and now even the most secure prisons of Pakistan lie open to them. Yes, the doom has come now. Like many Pakistanis I voted for Imran Khan so that he will transform my country into a Welfare State. What is a welfare state? If we google the definition then we come to know that A Welfare State is a State where all of the State’s resources are bound to be utilized for the betterment of the communities living under its jurisdiction despite of their race, language, religion or origin. Well, Asad Umar who is party’s candidate for By-Polls from NA-48 is the Star Performer being quoted and mentioned everywhere by PTI Supporters and vociferously defended by PTI Trolls no matter what.
Every Evil incarnation and color in the party is brushed into the carpet with the argument that Asad Umar is the part of party. Asad Umar has become a beacon of Hope in Post-Election Politics of PTI. His preference over MS Kasuri is amadant that Asad Umar enjoys a far more favorable position with Imran Khan than disgruntled (now consolidated) Ms Fauzia Kasuri. However, like many other faces of the party, Asad Umar is just as sham as CM Khattak is and we will see if he is credible and worthy enough to be voted into the Parliament from Islamabad West (NA-48) or not.
(1) Asad Umar has no control over Party and they don’t listen to him: When a PTI MNA asked for the release of Mumtaz Qadri and Implementation of Shariah in Pakistan, all of us on whose shoulders PTI actually claimed a little bit of credibility were furious. Obviously, Asad Umar was reached as he is dubbed as most educated and forward looking figure of the party. The Response given by Asad Umar in his tweet is depicted below.
Now my first reservation is that why should I vote for someone who has actually no control or say in any of the party’s matters? A person who is not even worthy enough to be listened by his own party members will be able to convey our reservations to the top notch? No! Asad Umar lost his credibility right after this Tweet. I am astonished then how can Asad Umar look into our eyes and say what he said? Will he smile away the shame of failing the hopes of many along with Imran Khan? I will not vote for Asad Umar as a protest to his shameful behavior and confession that he is just a decoration piece with no control over anything in Party and Party MNA and MPAs are free to set terrorists and murderers free.
(2) The Budget Figures in Star KPK Budget were forged and there was no real increase in Educational funds: The actual increase was only 1 Billion and Asad Umar who is dubbed as architect of the Budget is solely responsible for this forgery and mockery of common man’s mind. Asad Umar (if we believe that he was Architect of the Budget) has fooled the masses by adding up Development and Non-Development fiscal allocations and created a false myth of straight increase of 66 Billion. This is contrary to reality and mockery of General Public. Well, it also sheds light on our ignorance that we believed plainly in Rs 66 Billion increase without demanding any credible evidence for that.
(3) Asad Umar didn’t condemn deadly Taliban bombings and defended them on Live TV along with hurting victims sentiments: Can you believe this? Yes, it was Asad Umar who responded to a soaring question that why doesn’t any PTI elected MNA or MPA doesn’t go to condole with the victims of Taliban? Asad Umar plainly replied that he doesn’t go because it will not bring back the dead to life. The response was not only pathetic but it was disgusting to the core. Asad Umar has lost his credibility because when you cannot visit the victims and condole with them the precious loss of their loved ones then you have no right to protest for the Drone Victims at all. I will not vote for Asad Umar because if, God forbids, there is a Taliban attack in Islamabad then Asad Umar will not even come to visit the victims because he cannot bring them to life! Shame!
(4) Asad Umar is confused about Terrorism: Asad Umar has actually said nothing about the issue of Terrorism. This point is, perhaps, the main reason I will never again vote for PTI in my life. Asad Umar and his party support Terrorism. Shaukat Yusufzai has many times defended terrorists and he didn’t visit any blast victim. Chief Minister of KPK, Pervez Khattak, is open supporter of Taliban and defends them vociferously on TV. In fact, whole PTI is nothing but a burlesque Fantasy and Asad Umar is just a sidekick of Imran Khan. Well, exactly like cheap old Indian and Pakistani movies where hero had a funny sidekick!
(5) Asad Umar’s past is not clean: Asad Umar who is often dubbed as clean. Well, Asad Umar has been found guilty of illegal hoarding and increasing the price of Urea the highest in 32 years . Asad Umar was fired by Engro as the company was slapped with hefty fine over the illegal price increase and robbing the farmers of this poor country. So one cannot say Asad Umar is clean. He is, in fact, robber of Pakistani farmers and we demand that he should return back the looted amount and apologize for profiteering during his good old CEO days. In the whole inquiry report of Competition Commission of Pakistan is provided. You can read by yourself.
(6) Asad Umar is not man of his words: Well, this is a common trait of all PTI leadership. Asad Umar along with many others in PTI have said to masses in jazbaat maybe that they would leave politics in case there will be any fake degree or corruption tantamount to any of the leaders of the party. Well, do we need to recall fake degrees of Chaudry Sarwar and Ayla Malik. I am waiting when Asad Umar or Imran Khan will leave politics as they promised to masses in famous Lahore Jalsa where the song Saaf Chali Shaffaf Chai was played for the first time. This is not enough KPK has become hub of embezzlement and corruption where CM Khattak’s relatives are allocated party tickets in stark violation of competition and relatives of Shaukat Yusufzai get official advertisements and contract for the distribution of Aftari without any real tender in newspapers in sheer violation of Law of Pakistan.
(7) Asad Umar has no real plan for Islamabad: In his advertisement that was being distributed outside mosques of Islamabad — every Friday — Asad Umar had given no real plan for Islamabad. The plan that he gave so far is not real but just a play of words where he promised to make Islamabad an International Capital and business hub but he has not told how. This is exactly inline with the Party’s policy of making empty vows and not doing anything real. He has also promised that he will implement KPK type reforms in Islamabad. Allah save me from that. In KPK all reforms are meant to benefit Taliban and Jihadist agenda of JI-PTI nexus of evil. For example JI’s Siraj ul Haq said that he allocated billion of Rupees in current fiscal year to impart militant training to the youth to infuse Spirit of Jihad. Well, Allah forbids, I am sure during the tenure of Asad Umar the terrorists of Lal Masjid will once again become alive and play havoc with the lives of the people of Islamabad. Asad Umar has no real agenda. He might have not visited the middle-class and lower middle class localities of Islamabad in his whole life. For him Islamabad is only from F-5 till F-11 and maybe G-6 till G-11 are also included into it. What is beyond that? He cares a damn!
(8) Asad Umar has no say over REAL problems of Islamabad: Islamabad’s problem is shortage of water in Sector I-10, I-9, I-8, I-11, G-10, G-9 and G-13. The issue is that Islamabad doesn’t lie near any natural sustainable water resource such as major river. However, there are some small riverlets flowing through the city. Experts have long proposed that the water problems of the city can be resolved by pumping the water from Ghazi Barotha Canal. However, Asad Umar has given no plan how he will do it or general alternate water resource for the thirsty city.
Islamabad’s problem is toxic emitting Steel Re-rolling Mills in Sector I-9 and I-10. At times the pollution increases so much that a toxic artificial dense fog is produced in these sectors which are densely populated and approximately house 40% of the population of NA-48. The cause of this toxic fog is steel re rolling mills. Asad Umar has given no plan.
Islamabad’s problem is land occupation by Afghans in Sector I-11. Afghans illegally live on occupied land in Sector I-11/1 and have stalled the development of the sector opened in 1989. The Kutchi Basti of I-11 is an eyesore and is hub of notorious criminals such as robbers and carjackers. The Basti opposite to Sabzi Mandi Police Station has become No-Go area like Karachi’s Sohrab Goth. The lawless Katchi Basti has become Islamabad’s Waziristan where notorious Taliban gangster and militants are openly living and giving shelter to criminals and fugitives. Asad Umar has no say how he will resolve this issue.
Islamabad problem is encroachment backed by influential Land Mafia. Encroachers have occupied Sector G-12, F-12, E-12, D-12, D-13, E-13 and many greenbelts of the Capital. The occupation of green belts is usually done by mosques and illegal mosques are sprawling all over the city. I am sure Asad Umar has nothing to resolve this issue and he is coward enough not to even mention it. The occupation of the precious Capital Land by influential Land Mafia is a serious issue that Asad Umar isn’t capable of resolving as he has given no plan.
Islamabad’s real problem is lack of proper Mass Transit System and dominance of Wagon Mafia. The Capital of Pakistan doesn’t even have a proper system to transport citizens from one place to another. Well, as ever, Asad Umar has given no plan how he will install Mass Transit System in the city to transform Islamabad into a Business Hub and International Capital.
Islamabad’s real problem is broken roads of I-10 and I-9. North Service Road I-11, I-9, I-10 on which most heavy traffic of the Capital plies is in shambles . However, Asad Umar has given no plan how he will resolve it. Despite that Pakistan has operational Railways, Islamabad — the Capital of Pakistan — has no proper Railways Infrastructure and there is no proper Railway Station in the city. As ever Asad Umar has no plan how he solve this problem.
Islamabad’s problem is increasing Police brutalities and sharp increase in street crimes along with armed robberies and carjacking. Again Asad Umar has given no plan how he will resolve it. Asad Umar has given no plan about new sectors and how he will manage affordable housing in the Capital.
(9) There is no Government Engineering University in Islamabad and Asad Umar has no vision in this regard: The Capital of Pakistan doesn’t even have a proper Engineering University. Asad Umar has given no plan though he decried the sharp cuts in Higher Education Budget of the country.
(10) Asad Umar’s failure to influence Party’s stand over Agro Taxation, Terrorism and Taliban is enough reason for not voting for Asad Umar: Asad Umar has not made any significant contribution in shaping Party’s stance on terrorism. Asad Umar’s own brother is in PML-N. This is like a surprise. When Asad Umar cannot even curtail his own brother from going into N League then how can he influence us? Or it is that that both parties for brothers are like lucrative companies and they will go to wherever they find more attractive monetary offer. Asad Umar has failed to influence party to increase the Tax base by putting Agro Lands under Taxation. KPK Budget is a clear failure in this regard. On TV Asad Umar was seen defending the exemption of Agro Land from Taxation by blaming Punjab government and Federal government for that. Drones have become PTI’s Yahoodi Saazish where everything is blamed on drones. Starting from the Taliban’s glorious bombings to Dera Ismail Khan Jail Break: everything was blamed on Drones. Despite being modern and, well, habitual in many unconventional things Asad Umar has failed to influence party. Or maybe PTI was just a hypocritic institution where leaders can do anything but we are bound to become Good Muslims under Taliban. Even if you say Asad Umar is a die-hard fan of Educational Emergency, then I will object to it as well. Asad Umar has failed miserably to convince party leadership to revise curriculum and delete passages aimed at creating militant and fanatic mind. Asad Umar is guilty of terrorist glorification and is equally responsible for the fall of PTI.
